WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW WHEN YOUR PET IS HOSPITALIZED
1. Hospitalized patients are examined by the doctor twice
daily, or more frequently if indicated.
Technicians carry out the treatments directed by the doctor. To avoid
disturbing the schedule and consequently, the treatment of your pet,
we ask you to call only at specified hours for a progress report on
your pet's condition.
Morning Telephone Hours 9-12
Afternoon Telephone Hours 2-5
2. Visitation:
Whenever possible, according to the condition of the pet, visitation is
encouraged. The doctor, however, must be present to answer any questions
that you may have.
3. When your pet is ready to be discharged, an appointment will be
made so that all questions and medication can be explained.
GIVE ALL MEDICATION AS INSTRUCTED, AND UNTIL COMPLETELY GONE!
4. Stitches:
Will be removed in ten days. There is no additional fee. A fee
will be charged, however, for resuturing, recasting, anesthetic, injections,
or other treatments caused by lack of attention. Once your pet leaves
the hospital, we cannot be responsible for its care and supervision. Call
us immediately if you see your pet chewing its cast, splint, or sutures,
or acting abnormally. Muzzle your pet, or cover the area to prevent further
damage.
5. All pets must be free of internal and external parasites or these
will be treated at the owner's expense. All pets must also be up-to-date
on vaccinations for infectious diseases, such as Distemper, Hepatitis,
Parainfluenza, Parvovirus Enteritis, and Rabies.
6. Pets hospitilized are placed in our ward and treatment area for
close observation. The layout of our clinic allows your pet to receive
lots of personal attention and care by our assistants as well as our veterinarian.
Ask for a tour to see for yourself the advantages of hospitalizing your
pet at Meridian Animal Clinic. Notice the pets on towels and blankets.
6. Pets will be discharged only during regular hospital hours when
the veterinarian is present to explain use of medications.
7. All financial obligations must be satisfied with the business office
before the pet is dismissed from the hospital.
